As well as the highly anticipated two-variant range of 790 Adventures, KTM used the recent EICMA motorcycle show to unveil two revised 690 machines: an R-mode supermoto and enduro bike, as well as an all-electric minibike based around its popular 50cc SX machine.
Both 690s get the benefit of the latest-spec single-cylinder LC4 engine found in the current 690 Duke, as well as a larger 13.5-litre tank which is used a stressed member to increase rigidity.
The SMC R supermoto comes equipped with two switchable engine maps, Street or Sport, gets both cornering ABS and traction control systems, as well as fully-adjustable WP suspension.
The 690 Enduro R also has two switchable engine modes, this time Street or Off-road, as well as a bi-directional quickshifter and lean-angle sensitive ABS and traction control.
The SMC R is due in Australia by March 2019, and the Enduro R in April 2019.
Presumably wanting to capture the electric bike market early, KTM also unveiled a competition minibike called the SX-E 5. Based around the firm’s 50 SX, the battery is said to be good for 25 minutes of hard riding or up to two hours for a rider who’s learning the ropes, and it can be fully charged in around one hour. It also boasts a height adjustable seat. Aussie availability is December 2019.
