2017 YXZ1000R SS SE

Yamaha's sports side-by-side now comes with paddle shifts

Yamaha Motor Australia has launched the 2017 YXZ1000R SS SE sports side-by-side with "an exciting and high-tech paddle shifting driving experience" as it looks to get some runs on the board in a category hitherto dominated by Polaris and Can-Am.

The American-assembled YXZ1000R SS made its Aussie debut at last week's Melbourne Bike Expo, with the 998cc three-cylinder engine now boasting an automatic clutch to work in concert with the five-speed sequential shift transmission – eliminating the need for a clutch pedal.

The Special Edition (SW) model, priced at $32,999, also features an all-new launch system, as well as top-spec Fox 2.5 Podium X2 shocks. Travel is 411mm at the front and 432mm at the rear.

The livery is matt black, complete with cast-aluminium beadlock wheels.

Meanwhile, Yamaha will also continue to sell the YXZ1000R manual clutch model, for $29,999.
