Following on from the first public viewing of a pre-production model at the 2016 Moto Expo in Melbourne, SWM Australia is now on the cusp of releasing the production version of its single-cylinder Superdual adventure bike.
Set to go on sale in late May 2017 for $9990 plus on-road costs, the Superdual is derived from the Husqvarna TE 630 and manufactured at the same production plant in Lombadia, Italy. The Superdual shares the same 600cc liquid-cooled DOHC four-valve four-stroke engine as the SWM RS 650R, but with slightly more horsepower (54) due to the underslung exhaust.

The Superdual comes with 19-litre fuel tank, six-speed transmission, handguards, adjustable front and rear suspension, a kid plate and Brembo brakes. The seat height is 860mm, and the dry weight is 159kg.
A GT Kit is available for the Superdual, which comprises Givi panniers and brackets and LED fog lights. The kit brings the cost of the Superdual up to $11,490 plus on-road costs.
“The Superdual has created a massive amount of interest with Adventure riders,” said SWM Australia’s Stephen Tuff. “We displayed a pre-production version of the Superdual at the Moto Expo late last year and dealers were inundated with enquiry and quite a few deposits in anticipation of the production models.
"There’s definitely a gap in the adventure market for a quality single-cylinder machine that’s capable of comfortable long-distance riding. SWM has nailed the brief with a strong and proven engine, sleek adventure styling and good fuel capacity.
“We expect the Superdual to sell in good numbers because it’s the bike riders have been asking for. It’s got everything a solid single adventure bike needs and it comes in at a very competitive price.”
