Yamaha has released details on its 2016 motocross tackle, with revisions concentrating on fine-tuning already capable packages.
As always, the two four-strokes – the YZ250F and YZ450F — have garnered the most attention, with both now featuring a 20mm larger front disc brake (up from 250 to 270mm), new pad material, updated shifters ad revised suspension settings. They will be available in two liveries — Team Yamaha Blue or 60th anniversary yellow.
Other changes to the YZ450F are:
The YZ250F has a new, lighter forged piston, which together with revised EFI mapping is claimed to improve performance. The engine also has revised piston oil jets, an updated crank, and a new ECU.
The wet weight of the Bridgestone-shod YZ250F remains at 105kg — or just a smidgeon under — and the YZ450F tips the scales at 112kg wet. The YZ450F has Dunlop rubber.
The two-stroke range — YZ250, YZ125 and YZ85 — is unchanged apart from a gold chain and black wheels now adorning the 125.
Yamaha Motor Australia is yet to advise availability or price.
