Piaggio's latest scooter goes on sale in mid-August 2016 -- the tall-wheeled mid-size Medley 150 i-GET, which will sit between the best-selling Fly 150 and the larger Beverly 350 in the company's local range.
The design is based around a light-weight chassis and debuts a new liquid-cooled i-GET engine (Italian Green Experience Technology) that is Euro4 compliant and has a 'start-stop' feature like the one introduced on the Honda PCX range a few years ago. Torque is 14.4Nm, power transmitted through the ubiquitous CVT transmission.
There's two-channel (ie front-and rear wheel) anti-lock braking, LED lighting, an electronic anti-theft immobiliser and analogue dash with digital display.
The i-GET's styling is said to be "proportionally scaled down from the popular Beverly 350", while the 16- (front) and 14-inch are all about providing loads of stability. The kerb weight is 132kg, and the seat height is 799mm.
Accessories include a topbox, screen, multi-media platform and sound System.
The Medley 150 iGET will be available in two versions: standard in Bianco Perla and Grigio Titanium and an ‘S’ version with grey and black trims in Nero Vulcano and Rosso Ibis. Price for the standard is $5290, with the S an additional $100.
Bikesales will be riding the Medley 150 for the first time on Tuesday, August 16 so standby for a full review.
