Husqvarna has released full details on its extensively updated 2016 motocross range, with the FC 450, FC 350 and FC 250 four-stroke models and the TC 125 two-stroke receiving the most attention, while the TC 250 has received a mild makeover. The TC 85 completes the line-up.
The weight gains are impressive, with the FC 450 now 5.2kg lighter than the previous model, the FC 350 has shed 4.7kg, and the FC 250 has lost 4kg.
The weight loss has been spread between the chromium molybdenum steel frame, three-piece carbon fibre subframe, shock absorber, cast aluminium swingarm, new rear link and the engine.
All the four-stroke models have a new Keihin engine management system with a 44mm throttle body that is claimed to provide an "immediate throttle response" thanks to the elimination of a throttle linkage. New for MY16 is launch control, integrated into the standard handlebar map switch.
The exhaust system has been completely redesigned — it's now shorter and sleeker — to improve mass centralisation and reduce sound levels in keeping with FIM limits.
The four-strokes also have:
While considerable effort has gone into the four-stroke models, the two-stroke range also sees improvements — in particular the TC 125. The machine receives a significantly smaller and lighter engine, with a new power valve helping to increase power output from 38 to 40hp. The bike is also 3.2kg lighter than the previous model.
The TC 250 has new CNC triple clamps with rubber damping, a new seat cover and new disc brakes. The TC 85 remains unchanged.
We're still awaiting word on local availability and pricing.
