Arctic Cat's 2016 tackle has started to arrive in town, starting with the HDX 700 XT Prowler side-by-side, now on sale for $18,990 plus on-road costs.
Compared to the previous HDX 700 Prowler, the XT version introduces some major updates, including a reduction in engine noise by 8dBA, upgraded Fox shocks, a new automotive-style cabin, a forward-opening storage compartment, and the body work has changed—both for cosmetic and practical considerations.
The single-cylinder 695cc engine now has closed-loop electronic fuel injection which is claimed to improve throttle response, improve fuel economy by 25 percent and reduce emissions by 33 percent.
The XT holds three passengers on its bench seat, and it has certified roll over protection as standard. There's an optional accessory windscreen, roof, doors and back to keep you out of the winter chill.
The Prowler is fitted with an automatic Hi/Low 2WD/4WD transmission, complete with a front diff lock for those extra sticky situations. It has 254mm of travel, with the same amount of ground clearance. The vehicle rolls on 14-inch rims.
There are two lockable side compartments and an 85-litre under bonnet trunk with lockable hinges and improved access to radiator and brake fluid reservoirs.
The Prowler has power steering, adjustable tilt steering, and a scratch-resistant exterior. The tray back tipper has a carrying capacity of 475kg, while the tow rating is 680kg.
