Yamaha's already done a 'X' rated version of the YZ250F four-stroke motocross bike, and now it's reading from the same hymn book with the equivalent of the two-stroke YZ250 — the YZ250X.
Due in Australia late September 2015 — just in time for the 2015 Australian Four-Day Enduro — the YZ250X looks the same as the YZ250 but has been optimised for cross country action with cylinder and power valve modifications (over the YZ250), model-specific CDI settings, a wide ratio five-speed gearbox, an 18-inch rear wheel to reduced 'pinch' flats, off-road specific suspension settings, a sidestand and fuel tap that features a reserve position.
The cross country ergonomics include a 'gripper' type seat, narrow fuel tank and tapered aluminium handlebars.
Bikesales will be attending the Australian launch of the YZ250X in early September, where we'll also reacquaint ourselves with a number of Yamaha's other 250cc dirt bikes, including the YZ250F, YZ250, YZ250FX (launch review here) and WR250F, as well as the Grizzly ATVs and Wolverine ROV.
And there's something new, which we're tipping will be an all-new sports side-by-side
.
Price is still to be announced for the YZ250X.
