The name Super Adventure says it all – KTM recently unveiled its most imposing adventure bike yet, and today it make its public debut in Australia at Moto Expo Melbourne.
The Super Adventure, which will start appearing in Australian dealerships from late February 2015 priced at $26,995 plus on-road costs, utilises the engine currently found in the 1290 Super Duke R, with the revised LC8 dual plug 75-degree V-twin good for 160hp at 8750rpm and 140Nm at 6750rpm, compared to 110hp/125Nm for the two 1190 Adventures.
The Super Adventure has WP semi-active suspension, cruise control and an adaptive LED cornering headlight. In addition, optional hill hold and engine drag torque controls are available, the latter preventing the rear wheel from losing grip should the rider chop the throttle or pop the clutch on a downshift. Other safety features are stability control, traction control and anti-lock braking.
The bike also has a newly designed windshield which can be adjusted with one hand, heated seats and grips, and a massive 30-litre tank – seven more than the 1190s. Adjustability is also available for the footpegs, seat and handlebar.
The Super Adventure has the same chassis as the 1190 Adventure, which includes the powder-coated chromium-molybdenum steel trellis frame, Brembo brakes, WP upside-down forks and 120/70-19 and 170/60-17 rubber.
