2015 Indian Motorcycle Chief Dark Horse
The most menacing bike in the revamped company’s range, and it will be available from May 2015Indian Motorcycle Australia has confirmed the solo-seat Chief Dark Horse is on its way Downunder, starting at $26,999 rideaway.
The "newest and edgiest member of the Chief line-up" is chrome-less and instead blacked-out from end to end, which includes the engine, body, seat, wheels and forks. It's powered by the firm's omnipresent 1811cc Thunder Stroke six-speed V-twin with 139Nm of torque at 3000rpm.
Standard specification on the bike includes including anti-lock brakes, a keyless ignition and electronic cruise control.
At 341kg, the Dark Horse is the lightest — and by extension the quickest — in the Chief family, and with its menacing look will be aimed at competitors like the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy.
The arrival of the Dark Horse continues Indian’s pledge it made back in 2013 to bring three new models per year to the market, as it joins the all-new Scout (here) and Roadmaster (here) in 2015.
The Dark Horse has done away with the analogue fuel gauge and auxiliary driving lights of the Chief Classic. For those who want to ride with a buddy, a passenger seat and footpegs / floor boards are available as accessories — as are items such as ape hanger handlebars, high-flow air cleaners, fender struts, a slip-on exhaust and black fender trim.
The Chief Dark Horse will be available in Australia from May 2015.
