American brand Erik Buell Racing (EBR) provided some extra currency for journalists attending the recent launch of its 2015 model 1190RX – it also had an 1190SX naked bike on display as well.
The 2015 EBR 1190SX is a stripped-down version of the 1190RX, and appears to have exactly the same running gear and rolling chassis, including the aluminium frame, Showa suspension and massive 386mm front disc.
The obvious differences between the two are the lack of a fairing for the 1190SX, while the naked also has a handlebar instead of racing-inspired clip-ons which should amount to a much more upright and comfortable riding position.
EBR – which is now 49.2 per cent owned by massive Indian marque Hero MotoCorp – didn’t quote any performance figures for the 1190SX at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway unveiling, but it will surely match or exceed the RX’s 138NM of torque. We can’t see it replicating the RX’s power peak of 188hp, but we could be proven wrong… The full specifications and accessories are expected to be announced before July 4, 2014.
The 1190SX will come in three colours: black, white and red. The bike is due in Australia by late 2014.
