2014 Yamaha Super Tenere ES
A model which now adds electronically adjustable suspension onto the 1199cc parallel twin adventure bike. A raft of smaller changes have also been announcedYamaha has unveiled an ‘ES’ version of the Super Tenere with electronically adjustable suspension.
Using new handlebar controls, the rider can select from four preload and three damping settings, plus “an additional seven damping fine-tuning adjustments”.
The updated suspension brings Yamaha in line with adventure bike competitors like BMW Motorrad, which has been offering the system for a number of years on its 800 and 1200cc range as an ex-works option.
In addition to the ES announcement, Yamaha also re-spruiked a number of previously announced updates to the Super Tenere, including:
- A “modest” increase in power and torque from the 1199 parallel twin;
- A recalibrated Drive mode ride-by-wire mapping to provide more noticeable difference between the T setting and the S settings;
- Better weather protection from the redesigned screen;
- The handlebars are now 10mm closer to the rider, and also 10mm higher;
- Fine-tuning the application of cruise control;
- Three-way heated grips are now standard;
- The turn signals are now LED; and
- A new instrument package features an LCD dot-matrix multi-function display.
The SE is now on sale in North America, but will be coming to Australia. A price and date are yet to be fixed.
