2014 Yamaha Bolt

The “urban performance bobber”, powered by a 942cc air-cooled V-twin and with belt drive, will be on sale in Australia before the end of the year

A sharp-looking bobber we thought was only destined for the North American market when we first announced its existence in April – the Bolt – will now make it to Australia after all, with a September 2013 release on the cards.

Powered by the fuel-injected, four-valve, V-Star 950 (942cc) engine, the Bolt is all about a ‘less is more’ attitude with Yamaha pushing the “we build it you make it your own” philosophy. It’s the first bike that falls under Yamaha’s new medium term plan to broaden product lines in developed markets – which includes Australia.

The engine has a completely redesigned intake/exhaust system, revised fuel injection settings, and a newly designed slim and compact chassis. New components include the 12-litre fuel tank, belt drive, front & rear wheels, and steel fenders.

There’s a base model as well as an ‘R’ spec, which comes with piggyback shocks, special tank graphics and a “buckskin-styled seat cover material”.

No price as yet from Yamaha Australia.
