Vespa has launched the new Sprint 150 i.e scooter, priced at $6290 and available in Australia from September, 2014.
According to the Italian company, the “Sprint is a complete revamp of shape and size, picking up on the inspiration from the Vespa 946”.
The 154.8cc engine is a three-valve SOHC single-cylinder four-stroke producing 11.6hp (8.7kW) and 12Nm, mated to a CVT transmission.
The rider now has more legroom behind the shield and a new footrest that facilitates placing both feet on the ground, thanks in part to a new foot board design.
Headstock rigidity has been increased by 38 per cent, compared to the old LX scooter we presume, and the scooter has 12-inch wheels -- the largest seen on a 'Vespino'.
On first inspection the Sprint has very similar styling attributes to the recently launched Primavera (review HERE), but there a few key differences: the Primavera has smaller 11-inch wheels, and it also has a round highlight as opposed to the Sprint's rectangular design.
The convenient fold-away bag hook is retained, while a new battery location has increased underseat storage to 16.6 litres. A new engine mount system first introduced on the Primavera has been continued, while safety and security include front LED day-time lamps, an engine immobiliser, and the side stand has a safety cut-out switch.
Colour options are Pure Rosso Dragon (red), Monte Bianco (white), Nero Vulcano (black), Blue Midnight (dark blue) or Grigio Titanio (grey).
