Vespa Australia has confirmed the Australian debut of the new Primavera scooter will take place at this weekend’s 2014 Moto Expo in Brisbane.
The Primavera, Italian for the season ‘Spring’ , replaces the popular LX model in Vespa’s line-up. The name is highly regarded in Vespa history, having graced the famous marque as a 125 from 1965 to 1992.
The Primavera takes styling hues from the 946, while a more tapered tail draws references from the original Vespa body. The design is built around Vespa’s three-valve engine, with the powertrain completed by a double rear swingarm to further reduce vibration.
The Primavera has a longer wheelbase than the LX, new 11-inch alloy rims, and handlebar covers with brushed chrome switchblock holders and a chrome headlight bezel. The speedometer is fully electronic with digital and analogue readings.
Underseat storage increases from14.3 to 16.6 litres, and the engine immobiliser is fitted as standard. The sidestand now has safety lockout switch, there are LED running lights, and the service intervals are 10,000km.
Price will be $5990 for the 150 (9.5kW and 12.8Nm) and $5290 for the 125 (7.7kW and 10.4Nm). Local availability will be April/May 2014.
