2014 Melbourne Toy Run: December 21

It's an institution on the local motorcycling calendar, and this year's event will be held on Sunday, December 21

Calder Park Raceway on the outskirts of Melbourne will again be the destination for the 2014 MRA Toy Run, to be held on Sunday, December 21. There will be various departure points en route to Calder Park, including Cranbourne, Eltham, Epping, Ferntree Gully, Lilydale, Yarra Valley, Melton, Port Melbourne, Wallan and Werribee. For the complete list, visit www.toyrun.org.au.

The event is in support of the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal, which requires toys and non-perishable food for underprivileged family hampers this Christmas. The Salvation Army trucks will be waiting to receive these gifts from the bikers and public as they enter Calder Park Raceway.

The MRA (Vic) Melbourne Toy Run has been a popular charity ride with Victorian motorcyclists since 1978. Motorcycle riders dress up their bikes, trikes and scooters with Christmas decorations and ride from all over Victoria to bring gifts, toys and food for the children and families of Victoria in need.

The 2014 Toy Run will include a variety of activities and entertainment for the whole family, including a combined car and muscle bike display, stunts shows, trade stalls and displays, the latter including hot rods and drag race cars.

The children will also be able to see Santa arrive on his famous Tuk Tuk at 1:00pm.

Get there early to see thousands of bikes roll into Calder Park under police escort as they ride up the Calder Freeway from various departure points around Victoria. You will be able to buy food and cold drinks, sit and relax at a table and enjoy the afternoon’s activities in a motorcycle-friendly atmosphere with your family and friends.
