KTM is definitely aiming its all-new Freeride 250R two-stroke trail bike at a sportier clientele than the current Freeride 350 – why else would it choose to launch the bike in Il Ciocco, Italy, next week, the same locale which hosts the notorious Hells Gate Extreme Enduro!
It may lead to more busted bikes – and bodies – than a stock standard KTM launch, but the company obviously wants to display the bike in a rough house, no-holds-barred environment. Specs on the 250R have been a closely guarded secret, but we do know that it will weigh in at about 90kg, have stiffer suspension than the pseudo trials-like Freeride 350 (launch review here), and the engine is based on the donk found in the 250 EXC -- but without a power valve.
The Freeride 250R will go on sale in Australia in November, 2013, with price still to be announced.
