
Kawasaki’s lifted the wraps of a wide-ranging update to its KX85 motocross bike, which will go on sale locally in August, 2013 at a price still to determined.
The machine features a significant power in increase, updated chassis, improved ergonomics including all-new flush-fit bodywork, new seat, adjustable handlebar positioning; and sharp factory looks just like the KX450Fs ridden by Ryan Villopoto in America and Jay Marmont in Australia.
Kawasaki has introduced a low-friction piston, new KIPS valve, new cylinder head and numerous other updates give to the liquid-cooled, two-stroke power pack, increasing power and torque across the rev range. Peak power is claimed to be 19.6 per cent up on the 2013 model.
There’s a new 36mm upside-down fork offering improved damping and bottoming resistance, compete with 20-way compression damping. The rear shock is now lighter, and has 24-way compression damping and 21-way rebound damping. The chassis updates also include new petal disc brakes,.
The handlebars now have a choice of six positions, while black rims, black fork guards, and blue alumite1 finish on the suspension adjusters “further strengthen their factory image”.
Riders can choose from two available sizes: the KX85II (large wheel)) features 19 and 16-inch wheels, while the KX85 is equipped with 17 and 14-inch wheels.
