Honda has updated its VFR800, with the latest iteration of its evergreen V-four-powered sportstourer featuring a host of revisions and improvements.
Honda says it has significantly revised the 800cc, 90-degree, V-four engine's VTEC valve system to boost low and mid-range power for a smoother ride without compromising the bike's flexibility or fuel economy.
The addition of traction control and sophisticated two-channel ABS bring the Viffer's safety credentials right up to date. While the frame is unchanged, a revised die-cast aluminium subframe is 3kg lighter than that found on the previous model. In total, the model's kerb weight has been reduced by 10kg.
The aluminium single-sided Pro-arm swingarm is new and the 43mm Honda Multi-Action System (HMAS) telescopic fork has been redesigned in two pieces to accept radial-mount, four-piston brake calipers.
The seat height is now adjustable by 20mm while revised instrumentation features digital readouts for speed, revs, gear position, ambient temperature, fuel consumption, and a clock.
The headlight is now an LED unit that Honda says is brighter and more energy-efficient than older designs. The taillight has also been updated: it's now an integral unit that incorporates both the brake light and the indicators.
The 2014 Honda VFR800 will reach Aussie dealerships in June and will be priced from $14,599 plus on-roads. Visit www.hondamotorcycles.com.au or see your nearest Honda dealer for more information.
