Honda’s 2014 motocross tackle will be priced at $9697 (CRF250R) and $10,697 (CRF450R) respectively. The CRF250R is available now, and the CRF450R from mid-October.
The bikes come with an all-inclusive Ready to Ride price, which is inclusive of the manufacturer’s list price, pre-delivery and freight to dealer charges.
Peter Singleton, General Manager, Honda Motorcycles explains the new price structure: "This shift to Ready to Ride prices is a shift in focus for Honda, we are guaranteeing our customers competitive pricing in the most transparent way.
"We have experienced success with Ready to Ride pricing on our ATV range and are looking forward to rolling this out further with the 2014 motocross range."
The CRF250R boasts a number of upgrades including a lower centre-of-gravity aluminium frame, a fully adjustable Showa fork, and a new swingarm, shock and linkage.
The engine has a high-compression piston, new cylinder head and porting, a lighter radiator, new dual-stage fuel injection timing, and all that hard work is expelled through Honda’s patented dual-muffler exhaust – just like the CRF450R.
According to Honda, the 250’s mufflers are way shorter in a dual configuration, much closer to the bike’s centre of mass, which helps to make it more of a “whip and scrub demon”.
The updates to the engine, working in concert with the new mufflers, are claimed to increase low to mid-range power and allow the bike to rev more freely.
Meanwhile, the CRF450R’s engine has been further enhanced for greater torque, throttle feel, top-end power and over-rev. Its 48mm KYB air front fork has also been upgraded for improved oil flow and damping characteristics.
