The 2014 Penrite Oil Broadford Bike Bonanza was again held over the Easter weekend, with the Castrol 6-Hour celebrations taking centre stage as a bumper crop of original bikes, replicas, memorabilia and former riders -- including previous winners Len Atlee, Joe Eastmure, Richard Scott, Paul Feeney and Kevin Magee – were in attendance.
Two motocross circuits were in use: the main track for the later model bikes and a softer version for the pre-1975 machines. The dirt track saw non-stop action all weekend for solos and sidecars, while on Saturday evening the Speedway Spectacular took place in twilight before a capacity crowd.
The gala dinner on Saturday night was a sell-out and featured a one-hour interview with Graeme Crosby by MC Alan Cathcart. In addition, the inaugural awards for the Legends of Motorcycling were made to Ted Goddard and Lindsay Urquhart.
With over 1000 riders enjoying themselves on the various tracks (including a large vintage enduro turnout for a ride through the nearby Tallarook State Forest), swap meet, numerous club, trade and individual displays, the 2014 Penrite Bonanza had something for everyone.
