The 2014 Australasian Safari will bring over 100 competitors to the Pilbara in September, 2014.
The collaboration between the Safari and Pilbara Regional Council will see the event reaching Western Australia’s north-west region for the first time in seven years.
“I am thrilled to be hosting one of Australia’s premier motorsports events in the region,” said Pilbara Regional Council CEO Tony Friday.
“An event as rugged and extreme as the Australasian Safari bolsters the international reputation of the Pilbara as a true adventure sports destination.”
Safari Event Director Justin Hunt said: “Competitors can expect the Pilbara addition of this year’s route will take them through some amazing almost untouched wilderness areas with rugged and challenging terrain.”
The 2014 route will visit four out of the five Western Australian tourism regions: the Pilbara, Perth, Coral Coast and Golden Outback.
The 2014 Australasian Safari will begin with a family-friendly show in Perth on September 19. Competitors will then embark on seven days of racing before crossing the finish line in Geraldton on September 27.
