The Californian-based Zero Motorcycles has announced its 2013 line-up, which includes a new model: the Zero FX.
The so-called “urban rebel” is the fastest accelerating motorcycle in the company’s line-up with 94.9Nm of torque, 44hp and weighs in at 102.6kg. The Zero FX, as well as the Zero XU and Zero MX, now feature what Zero Motorcycles claims is the world’s first truly modular quick-swap power pack technology. Riders can now use one or two battery modules and can upgrade any of the previously mentioned models from 2.8kWh to 5.7kWh in seconds.
And the company is still done with on the big-ticket stuff: it also claims to now have the world’s longest-range production electric motorcycle in the shape of the Zero S. The bike is capable of 220km in the city. To attain the quantum leap in performance, Zero designed a new Z-Force motor that is powerful and compact. Integrated into every 2013 motorcycle, the motor operates using a new higher voltage power pack.
To accommodate the new look and advanced powertrain, Zero redesigned the chassis for every model with an emphasis on improving rider ergonomics and expanding compatibility with aftermarket accessories.
Using Bluetooth, riders can now sync their iPhone or Android mobile phones to see detailed motorcycle information and even adjust the performance characteristics of the motorcycle.
