2013 Yamaha XJ6 unveiled

Sporting a subtle new look and delivering improved pillion ergonomics, the new XJ6 naked bike has emerged in Europe and is coming to Australia

We've had a handful of 2013 road bikes break cover in the in the second half of this year such as the Kawasaki Ninja 250R, and now you can add a Yammy to the list - the updated Yamaha XJ6.

There has been idle rumour that Yamaha will debut a thoroughly upgraded YZF-R6 sports bike this year, a bike that hasn't changed since 2008, but while that is purely speculation it's good to see some new metal coming out of the factory in the form of this LAMS approved naked bike.

Changes to the 2013 Yamaha XJ6 are relatively minor but owners should be able to spot the updated bits - new side panels, a tweaked front cowl and new look pillion grab handles at the back of the bike.

Other changes include a new seat skin and things like clear indicator lenses and LED backlighting for the instrument cluster are evident upon closer inspection.

Black highlights on the fuel tank cap round out the cosmetic upgrades, and the 2013 model will be offered in two colours - Midnight Black and Competition White.

There are no mechanical changes to the 2013 Yamaha XJ6, so it'll soldier on with its 600cc inline four-cylinder, which outputs 77hp (57kW) and has a decent top speed of just over 210km/h.

Yamaha Australia has confirmed the 2013 XJ6 is coming to Australia but is still finalising an exact launch date.
