As visitors stroll along the Grand Promenade inside the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre during the 2013 Sydney Motorcycle & Scooter Show, their eyes will be drawn to 12 historically significant bikes from leading manufacturers, including the current Australian land speed record holder for a production motorcycle, a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R.
Earlier this year, the bike reached a top speed of 208.153mph (334.99km/h) at South Australia's Lake Gairdner, and will be on display in its full salt flat racing livery.
Australian Superbike Championship-winning bikes will be showcased, including the Ducati 996RS ridden to victory in 1999 by Steve Martin and the BMW S 10000 RR on which Glenn Allerton achieved success in 2011.
Across the aisle, Yamaha will be showcasing Frenchman Stephane Peterhansel's 1991 Paris-Dakar-winning YZE750T.
At either end of the Grand Promenade, revolutionary production motorcycles will be on display with a Honda K1 CB750, the world's first mass produced four-cylinder bike, plus the very first Suzuki Hayabusa in Australia.
Triumph will be showcasing two historic production models: a 1994 Shell Speed Triple Series, the first factory built Streetfighter model, along with a 1973 Trophy Trail TR6 which was the marque’s first scrambles bike.
The Walk of Fame will also feature historic motorcycle from Harley-Davidson with a rare 1914 10F -- only produced for one year with just a handful of models remaining in existence -- as well as a 1944 WL.
Rounding out the Walk of Fame will be historic bikes from both Aprilia and Moto Guzzi.
A record 138 exhibitors will display their latest and greatest wares at the 2013 Sydney Motorcycle & Scooter Show, including new models, concepts, classic and historic bikes as well as everything new in motorcycle accessories, products and services.
