MV Agusta Imports has announced a ride away price of $19,990 for the new F3 800, available in a choice of three liveries: pearl white/black, red/silver or matt metallic black.
The 800’s engine is based on the F3 675 platform, producing claimed power and torque figures of 148hp and 88Nm and weighing in at 173kg (dry).
Those figures generate a power-to-weight ratio of 0.85hp/kg, which MV Agusta claims will allow the triple to compete directly against the litre-class sports bikes in open performance warfare, both on the road and the race track.
To gain the displacement increase from 675cc to 798cc, MV’s engineers increased the stroke from 45.9mm to 54.3mm. The power peak arrives at 13,000rpm on the updated power pack, and the torque at 10,600rpm. The engine is a DOHC design with four titanium valves per cylinder, while the fuel injectors now have a higher flow rate compared to the F3 675. The rev limiter is set at 13,500rpm, and the bike has a slipper clutch.
The counter-rotating crankshaft engine weighs 52kg, with the water and oil circuits integrated into the crankcase castings, and their respective pumps are located inside the engine with obvious advantages in terms of styling as well as compactness. MV Agusta says that throttle response on the F3 800 is “remarkably improved” over the F3 675.
Electronics, via the MVICS (Motor & Vehicle Integrated Control System) platform, include full ride-by-wire, multiple engine mapping, and traction control.
As for the chassis, the wheelbase is a mere 1380mm; the frame is tubular steel with aluminium side plates; and there’s fully adjustable suspension: 43mm Marzocchi fork and Sachs monoshock. The brake system has been upgraded as well, utilising Brembo monobloc front calipers. There is no change in the diameter of the two front discs (320mm), and the rear brake remains a two-piston caliper mated to a single 220mm disc. The tyres fitted as standard are Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa, 120/70-17 on the front and a 180/55-17 rear.
The F3 800 will be imported in very limited numbers. Contact your nearest dealer for more information.
