The new 2013 Kawasaki Z800 has been outed in Cologne, with a confirmed increase in capacity for the four-cylinder engine from 748cc to 806cc. Obviously, that will equate to more power and torque, but Kawasaki has so far been coy about releasing performance figures.
The new Z800 will be a direct rival for Yamaha's FZ8 naked bike and is likely to deliver slightly more power via its water-cooled four-cylinder DOHC lump.
The company is claiming a 'ferocious' design, with the new front cowl design a key element of the Z800’s more aggressive styling. There's a new instrumentation panel which features multi-function LCD screens and a level-meter-style tachometer, an LED tail light and 17-litre tank. Weight is 229kg, and 231kg for the ABS model.
Availability in Australia should be from late November, 2012, with pricing still to be finalised. The current 2012 Kawasaki Z750 sells for $12,499 in Australia and the new model is expected to be priced similarly.
