2013 Husaberg FE250

The first 250cc four-stroke enduro model from the company, and the FE350 is also being reintroduced. The entire 2103 range is set to go on sale in October, 2012

Husaberg has unveiled a long-overdue addition to its enduro ensemble – the FE250.

It’s the first 250cc four-stroke model from the KTM-owned manufacturer, and features Keihin fuel-injection with a 42mm throttle body and “integrated temperature and altitude compensation”.

There’s a double-cradle central tube frame made from lightweight chrome-molybdenum steel; a new subframe made from fibreglass-reinforced polyamide; and a closed-cartridge fork from WP which is claimed to offer better damping at full suspension travel compared to conventional systems. Rebound and compression damping can be adjusted at the upper end of the fork legs.

Other models in the 2013 Husaberg enduro line-up include the FE350, which is making a return to the fold after a long absence, the FE450, FE501, as well as the three two-strokes: TE125, TE250 and TE300.

Here are some other technical features:

  • Each model has its own individually tuned and 7mm longer WP PDS shock absorber for greater progression and better bottoming resistance;
  • Cooling system with fan as standard for all four-stroke models;
  • Aluminium silencers in accordance with the new FIM regulations;
  • 200-gram lighter wheels due to new aluminium spoke nipples;
  • Modified triple clamp offset for the TE250 and TE300 models (20mm instead of 22mm) for even better cornering stability;
  • 300-gram lighter swingarm, with new pivot point for the shock absorber (5mm closer to the centre). Higher side profiles and optimised flexibility perfectly support the damping characteristics of the shock absorber and frame;
  • New airbox with optimised airflow; access and replacement of air filter remains possible within shortest time without using tools;
  • Transparent fuel tanks with increased capacity for the four-stroke models (9.5 litres)
  • High-end brakes from Brembo; and
  • Plastic skid plate and handguards as standard for all models; the lower front part of the subframe acts as a frame protector.

All Husaberg engines, except for the unit of the TE 125, are equipped with electric start. Furthermore, the TE250 and TE300 also come with a kickstarter fitted as standard.

The engine cases for the 450/501 are manufactured -- as they are on the FE350 -- using a high-pressure die-casting process, resulting in significantly reduced wall thicknesses but with the same stability. Thus, together with the weight savings on the piston, connecting rod and balancer shaft, the weight of the engine has been reduced by 2kg.

The 2013 models will be available in Australia from October, 2012, with price still to be confirmed. Contact your local Husaberg dealer for more information.
