The Intermot motorcycle expo, held in Cologne, Germany, over October 3-7, saw a flurry of activity at the Aprilia stand when factory Superbike World Championship racer Max Biaggi unveiled the 2013-spec RSV4 Factory ABS, complete with boosted engine output, a sport ABS brake system, upgraded electronics and more.
The Italian maker's new sporting flagship is now said to produce 184hp (135kW) and 117Nm (up from 180hp (132kW) and 115Nm), while the model also benefits from a new multi-map and switchable sport ABS system -- a feature now found on many litre-class sportsbikes.
Aprilia says the APRC (Aprilia Performance Ride Control) electronics package -- comprising Aprilia Traction Control, Aprilia Wheelie Control, Aprilia Launch Control and Aprilia Quick Shift -- has been refined, as have the bike's ergonomics, while the new model also sports a higher-capacity fuel tank.
According to Aprilia, the new RSV4 Factory ABS is "the most powerful, safest, most technologically advanced and aggressive RSV4 ever made". We're sure Biaggi, who is currently leading the Superbike World Championship with one round remaining, will be keen to prove that point on the factory racer version of the new machine through the 2013 season.
