Victory motorcycles has introduced a full biscuit touring version of its Cross Country machine, which will be the only all-new model to feature in the American company’s 2012 line-up.
The 2012 Cross Country Tour features a sand-cast aluminium frame, top box, taller windshield, a new fangled Victory Comfort Control System -- the ability to control the volume and direction of airflow to the upper body -- fairing lowers mounted on chrome, tubular highway bars, height-adjustable passenger footboards, rear tip-over protection, ABS, 22-litre fuel tank, heated grips and seats, air-adjustable rear suspension, and it’s powered by the air/oil cooled Freedom 106 V-twin with six-speed overdrive transmission. The engine also holds court across the whole Victory platform, albeit in a different states of tune for the tourers and cruisers.
For the Cross Country Tour, that means 92hp and 148Nm in stage one guise, while the cruisers get the 97hp/153Nm combination. Only last year, Victory made a number of tweaks to the Freedom engine in a bid to reduce noise levels (particularly gear whine) and smooth out the whole driveline set-up.
Victory claims just a tick over 155 litres of storage space, shared between the saddlebags, forward storage compartments and top box.
The Cross Country Tour should go on sale in Australia around September or October, wit price to be confirmed, while the Cross Country LE will be here in November.
The 2012 Cross Roads LE is a numbered model which includes exclusive paint, graphics, a leather seat and wire wheels, a different windshield, chrome light bar, fender bumpers and saddlebag rails with tip-over protection.
Also, expect the 2012 Vegas 8 Ball to arrive down under in the next four weeks, which will retail for $19,995 rideaway.
Not too long after that Australia will see the first shipment of the Highball, which is already half sold. Also on the water is the new Hammer S and Jackpot models, which have a host of upgrades and colour changes.
We'll have the full rundown on Victory's 2012 line-up in coming weeks.
