Polaris has launched a new addition to its Ranger side-by-side line-up – the RZR570.
Rather than supplanting an existing bike in the range, Polaris plans to launch the single-cylinder model to at a price point which will sit between the youth-pitched RZR170 ($5995) and the RZR S 800 ($18,995) and pave the way for more consumers to enter the market.
But there’s one unknown at this stage – price… But expect a retail figure to be announced very soon, as limited numbers of the RZR570 – in red -- begin to arrive in February, 2012.
The RZR570’s muscle will come from an all-new ‘ProStar’ fuel-injected, wet sump engine, the second such unit in the Ranger family.
There are also 650 watts of stator output and a new transmission, which is spruiking less driveline noise and lighter weight.
The independent rear suspension has 241mm of travel, and the front 229mm. There is preload adjustment all-round. The wheelbase is 1956mm and the RZR570 is 1270mm wide – ideal for squeezing through tight trails.
Safety features include a Certified Roll-Over Protective Structure (ROPS) and side nets designed for easy in-and-out access. The unit features a new, rear 136 kg capacity, flat cargo box with Lock & Ride accessory technology and built-in rack extenders to maximize carrying capacity.
Meanwhile, Polaris has just launched its four-seater RZR XP 4 900 in America, which will retail in that country for $17,999. Australian availability and pricing is yet to be announced.
