Harley-Davidson has announced its sponsorship of the Open Road Film Festival, a competition for professional and budding filmmakers established by industry veterans Bryan Brown and Gregor Jordan.
Entrants will be challenged to adapt writer/director Gregor Jordan’s unfinished film-noir thriller The Queen of Hearts. Jordan has created an ending; it is now up to the film makers to come up with the beginning.
The competition is open to anyone with a passion for film. To help entrants make their films there are five $1000 production grants available, as well as the opportunity to be mentored by Brown and Jordan.
The prize pool for winning entrants includes a Harley-Davidson Iron 883, Canon EOS-1D C, and other Canon camera and lens packages.
Films submitted to the Open Road Film Festival will appear online at www.openroadfilmfestival.com for members of the public to cast their vote. A panel of industry experts including Brown and Jordan will also judge the film submissions based on film craft, storytelling and originality.
Brown explains: “The more opportunities for young Australian film makers, the more creative the Oz film industry can be. The Open Road Film Festival is fantastic because it has the potential to help new directors get noticed. The prizes are pretty good too.”
Brown, alongside the late Heath Ledger, starred in one of Jordan’s best films – Two Hands, which was released in 1999.
The Open Road Film Festival will also coincide with the launch of Harley-Davidson’s new 24-hour test ride program in Australia and New Zealand.
