2012 model Ducati product recall

A number of new 2012 Ducati models have been recalled after the identification of faulty rear brake pads

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) recently issued a product safety recall affecting several new 2012 Ducati models.

The ACCC says the recall affects current-model-year examples of the Monster 796, Monster 796 ABS, Monster 1100 EVO ABS, Hypermotard 796, Streetfighter 848, 848 EVO, Multistrada 1200 ABS and even the 1199 Panigale S -- the latter not being of much consequence, given the model has only just reached our shores.

According to the ACCC, the use of inferior brake pad material in affected bikes means the rear brake "may not function properly under heavy braking".
Owners of these bikes should contact their nearest Ducati dealer to arrange to have the pads replaced.
Details of the product safety recall, including a listing of affected VIN numbers, can be found here.
