2012 Australian Motorcycle Expo

The Queensland leg of the Australian Motorcycle Expo, incorporating scooters and watercraft, is shaping up to be a massive event

Covering more than 10,000 square metres of floor space, the Australian Motorcycle Expo, Australia Scooter Festival and Australian Personal Water Craft (PWC) Show has been confirmed for Queensland's Gold Coast in late February.

Taking place between February 17 and 19 in 2012, the giant expo will showcase a diverse range of products at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, and is the largest consumer show to be held at the location and will entail indoor and outdoor displays.

According to organisers more than 100 different manufacturer, accessory and service stands will be set up shop at the Expo during the three-day event.

South East Queensland is a hot bed of activity when it comes to PWC, motorcycle and scooter use and as event manager Mark Petersen explained, the visitor experience was a 'primary focus' for the gargantuan Expo, which will include plenty of hands-on demonstrations, test rides and that sort of thing.

"The region lends itself to a lifestyle on two wheels and the water and there has been plenty of interest in the staging of our next exhibition," stated Petersen.

"The motorcycle, scooter and PWC industries in Australia are driven by brands, businesses and people who are passionate about this lifestyle. As a result we see little effort spared when it comes to assembling complete, informative and entertaining displays [at the Expo]."

Petersen expects big crowds to attend the show, which gives punters the opportunity to look at hundreds of different motorcycles, scooters and PWCs in one place, rather than having to shop around at various dealerships.

"Diversity is a key appeal of this lifestyle. Leisure or commuting, on-road, off-road or on the water, a rider for just days or decades, there really is something here for everyone to enjoy and participate in," added Petersen.

In addition to the thousands of new products on display, there will also be seminars, competitions and other way for attendees to get involved. And there's also going to be plenty of stunts courtesy of freestyle MX and PWC shows.

"Safety seminars, special guests, competitions, bike builds and action demonstrations from freestyle motocross, freestyle PWC, trials and mini bike riders will make this a must-visit for all riders and their families.” Stated Petersen, who said that the event would also inject much-needed tourism dollars into the state.

"The Australian Motorcycle Expo attracts plenty of interstate interest along with that from South East Queensland. Many have already planned gatherings on the Gold Coast for the weekend and the local area is sure to benefit as they check out the many tourist attractions and sample the local hospitality."
