2012 Australian Endurance Championship cancelled

The event, to be held at Phillip Island from November 30 to December 1, has been canned because of insufficient entries
The Phillip Island 8 Hour Australian Endurance Championship scheduled for November 30-December 1, has been cancelled.
Despite extending the closing time for entries, there are insufficient competitors registered to conduct the event.
In making the announcement, the Managing Director of the Phillip Island circuit, Fergus Cameron, said: “We had hoped to build a tradition with this event at Phillip Island in much the same way as the long standing MotoGP, Superbike World Championship and the Island Classic.  Despite our best efforts the response has been very slow, possibly due to the current economic times.  We apologise for any inconvenience this causes to competitors who had already entered.
“We will continue to explore opportunities for new motorcycle events in the future.”
