The 2012 Australasian Safari will be held from September 21-29.
“We understand what a huge effort it is to plan ahead to enter an event of this nature and commitments need to be made months in advance,” said Justin Hunt, whose company runs the event. “We have an incredible field of competitors this year and I wanted to ensure they have every opportunity to plan for next year’s event and mark it in their calendars.
“We will also be introducing a range of new innovations to Safari 2012 including the Safari Challenge.”
In a similar vein to the motorcycle adventure ride, the Safari Challenge will allow people to be part of the 2012 Safari in their own 4WD. They will be able to drive elements of the competitor stages under timed race conditions. At least one competitive stage of driving will be included each day.
All vehicles will be fitted with GPS speed monitoring devices and the vehicles will have a limited top speed of approximately 120km/h. Full details will released in November.
Australasian Safari entries will be open on November 1, 2011.
