2012 ASBK calendar

The dates and venues for the 2012 Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) have been announced.

A total of seven rounds will see the ASBK visit four states and territories, beginning in February at Phillip Island as part of the local round of the 2012 Superbike World Championship.

Rounds in the Northern Territory, Western Australia, Queensland and Victoria follow before the season comes to a climax at Queensland Raceway in mid-September.

The 2012 season will see the reintroduction of a 250cc Production class in the ASBK, but instead of the two-stroke fire-breathers of yore which kick-started the careers of riders like Mick Doohan and Troy Bayliss, next year’s instalment of machines will be far tamer, such as the Honda CBR250R and Kawasaki Ninja 250R.

ASBK will also host the Australian Supermoto Championship.
