2011 Yamaha XVS250 V-Star

The smallest of Yamaha's V-Star line has a new look, with a ‘blacked-out' version to go on sale in Japan this week

Yamaha has made some cosmetic updates to its 2011 model XVS250 cruiser, with one of the models jettisoning the straight jacket – silver engine and wheels -- for a more ‘fearless’ all-black version.

The ‘Black Metallic X’, which goes on sale in Japan on December 17, also showcases a more demure fuel tank pinstripe, but one which continues to showcase Yamaha’s famous tuning fork.

But for those without a disposition for black, Yamaha has maintained silver trimmings in a model whose colour is similar to the ‘cappuccino’ model previoulsy sold in Australia.

That's right -- the XVS250, once the smallest of the seven-bike V-Star range in Australia, as now been discontinued, leaving 250cc cruiser duties in the sole care of the venberable XV250 Virago. Yamaha has cited cost pressures for the decision.
