2011 Triumph Speed Triple pricing
The new generation naked bike from Triumph will be priced from under $18,000 and ABS will be a $1000 option for the Brit muscle bikeShown at the Melbourne Motorcycle expo, the 2011 Triumph Speed Triple will arrive in showrooms in February priced from $17,140 before on-road costs are added.
The new model spearheads a design evolution for the British motorcycle brand that will be seen in upcoming models, such as its new Adventure bikes, the Tiger 800 models, and will give its naked bike rivals a good run for their money.
The Ducati Monster, Kawasaki Z1000 and Honda CB1000R are a few of the motorcycles the new Triumph Speed Triple will target, and it will be offered with ABS as a $1000 option, taking the price to $18,140 (no including on-road costs).
Powered by a modified version of the previous generation's 1050cc inline three-cylinder engine, the new Speed Triple develops slightly more power and considerably more torque than its predecessor, with 135hp (96kW) at 9400rpm, 111Nm at 7750rpm. This compares well with the 130hp/103Nm of the previous model.
Weighing in 214kg wet, 3kg lighter than the last model, the new Triumph Speed Triple will be available with a number of accessories -- such as a seat cowl, belly pan and compact screen -- but comes standard with new 43mm fully adjustable upside-down forks.
