2011 Triumph Bonneville models

Triumph has revealed changes to its 2011 Bonneville range, the 865cc parallel twin modern classics now offered with a new colour scheme

British motorcycle maker Triumph has launched its 2011 Bonneville, Bonneville SE and Bonneville T100 in Australia, with the T100 sporting a fresh new lick of paint and all models backed by a two year, unlimited kilometre warranty.

The Triumph Bonneville models have been a staple of the British bike maker's range since the late 1950s, and were named after the famous salt flats in Utah where Triumph broke several land speed records in the '50s.

Arguably the most iconic Triumph ever made, the Bonneville models are coming under increased attack from retro Japanese motorcycles, including the Honda VT750S and more recently the Kawasaki W800, but will always be the trend setter thanks to its heritage.

The Bonneville models continue the vintage look of the classic bikes, while taking advantage of "thoroughly modern engineering" according to Triumph, in turn creating "a classic British twin for the 21st century rider."

All three 2011 Triumph Bonneville models are equipped with 865cc parallel twin dual camshaft engines. The four-stroke, air-cooled twins crank out 68hp at 7500rpm and 68Nm at 5800rpm, and are designed to give the modern classics plenty of vim.

Fuel-injection ensures a smooth power delivery plus improved reliability but you wouldn't think so looking at the engine. Neat features such faux carburettors that hide the fuel injectors, plus dummy pushrod tubes, disguise the Bonneville's modern engine technology. Triumph says that only the modern disc brakes give the game away.

The range-topping Triumph Bonneville T100 models are offered in a new Vintage Cream and Chocolate dual tone colour option for 2011, while most other aspects remain the same.

The standard Bonneville and SE models models feature 17-inch cast alloy wheels and a low 740mm seat height, while chrome megaphone silencers and minimal mudguards complete retro design.

The Bonneville SE models adds a few more features above the standard Bonnie -- a tachometer, brushed alloy engine cases, and a chromed tank badge.

Step up to the Bonneville T100 and you're looking at classically-styled spoked steel wheels with a bigger 19-inch front hoop, knee pads on the tank, 41mm front forks, chromed rear shockers, peashooter silencer exhausts and rubber fork gaiters.

The entry level T100 Black models come with a blacked out frame and single tone paintwork, while the normal T100 models are offered with various dual tone colour schemes, including the new for 2011 Vintage Cream and Chocolate tone.

Pricing for the updated 2011 Triumph Bonneville range is as follows:

2011 Triumph Bonneville $10,990
2011 Triumph Bonneville SE $12,490

2011 Triumph Bonneville T100 Black (basic) $12,490
2011 Triumph Bonneville T100 (dual tone, pin stripes) $13,990.

2011 Triumph Scrambler: $11,990
2011 Triumph Thruxton: $13,990
