The wraps have come off the 2011 Suzuki GSX-R1000, but those expecting mechanical changes will be disappointed. The only major change compared to the 2010 models are the colours schemes.
We now have "dramatic new graphics for 2011" according to Suzuki, with a "striking new" blue/white livery that looks a lot like previous colours and a dark take on the Gixxer Thousand, with a black/silver combination.
Everything else about the bike remains unchanged, but it could argued that the Suzuki GSX-R1000 is such a beast in the first place that nothing new was needed.
Suzuki calls the GSX-R1000 "An unsurpassed package" thanks in large part to its high performance 999cc, four-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC engine.
Complete with Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) fuel-injection system and a class-leading power-to-weight ratio, it'll eclipse 130km/h in first gear, should you find the need.
It also features Suzuki's Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS) which can tweak the power output, plus there's a back-torque-limiting clutch and titanium mufflers.
The whole kit and caboodle is held together within a twin-spar cradle frame "made from just five cast aluminium-alloy sections" and also features the in vogue Big Piston Front-fork (BPF) front suspension system.
Pricing for the new Gixxer 1000 models is $18,990 not including on-road costs, and they are backed by Suzuki's two year, unlimited kilometre warranty.
As well as the two new liveries, the advent of the 2011 model should also be a boon for savvy buyers, as it will mean the 2010 models - identical except for colour - will be priced to clear. Could be a few bargains out there. Check out Suzuki.com.au for your nearest dealer.
