MV Agusta has introduced a Brutale 920 to takes its place alongside the 1090RR and 990RR iterations of the popular naked bike.
Due to go on sale in Europe next February, the 920’s principal selling points are a new engine, new chassis settings and a one-piece seat design. MV Agusta is calling the 920 its most “comfortable and intuitive” Brutale ever.
Power is supplied from a 921cc 16-valve engine with a bank of 46mm throttle bodies. Measured at the crankshaft, claimed peak power is 129hp (96kW) at 10,500rpm, and torque is 95Nm at 8100rpm. To put that into a Brutale context, the 990 claims 139hp and the 1090 144hp.
The 920 features an eight-level traction control allied with dual engine modes (Normal and Sport), a Magneti Marelli engine management system, a tubular steel trellis frame, Brembo radial brakes, Marzocchi 50mm upside-down forks, a Sachs shock absorber, and the new single-piece seat is both “lower and narrower” – than the other Brutales we presume.
The 920 shares the same trail (101mm), dry weight (190kg) and hefty fuel capacity (23 litres) as the 1090, but its wheelbase is 8mm shorter.
The two colour schemes are black or white for the 920, while MV has also announced the 1090 will also be available in a titanium grey with red frame livery in 2011.
Will we eventually see the latest MV Agusta tackle in Australia? We’re prodding and pushing to get some information from head office, as currently there isn’t an official distributor in Australia.
We hope something happens soon, as the all-new F3 supersport bike is also waiting in the wings.
