2011 Melbourne Toy Run: December 11

The annual Toy Run is practically an institution, with motorcyclists meeting to pass on toys to the community's less privileged in the lead-up to Christmas

The annual MRA Toy Run will be held on Sunday, December 11, an event run to increase support and awareness of the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal.

Every year thousands of motorcyclists and scooterists meet at various points around the state, and converge on a nominated precinct – this year it will be Calder Park Raceway in Melbourne’s outer west -- trying to out do one another with outlandish decorations on their rides, their clothes and on their helmets.

Although the day is centred on the motorcyclists and their delivery of toys for the needy, there are also plenty of family and community activities. As well as the thousands of bikes that will be on show, there will be bands, artists, choirs and stalls – with more announcements still to come.

For 2011 Toy Run gathering points, keep visiting www.toyrun.org.au, which also lists other Toy Runs being held throughout the country.
