Touted as having a wide front end and a "chunky 16-inch tyre" the new Harley-Davidson 1200 Custom will be priced at around $17,895 rideaway in Australia, but its arrival date has not yet been set in concrete.
The new H-D is likely to go on sale here later in 2011, as it is being introduced in the United States as a "mid-year addition" and has the makings of a volume selling model.
Powered by an air-cooled 'Evolution' 1200cc fuel-injected V-twin engine, the 2011 Harley-Davidson 1200 Custom should deliver effortless rideability thanks to peak torque of 107Nm (79 ft.lbs.) hitting the skids at just 4000rpm.
As the photos show, the 1200 Custom model boasts new wheels shod with Michelin Scorcher tyres, pull-back bars with wider fork spacers and polished triple clamps, and a reshaped LED brake light. These changes give the Sportster-based motorcycle a "compelling combination of bold styling, nimble handling and the irresistible beat of American V-Twin performance," according the North American company.
Other changes to the new Custom 1200 include a reshaped Sportster 'eyebrow' over the headlamp and a tweaked front end which adds a new suspension tune to the 39mm forks to match the new wheel and tyre.
