The 2011 Ducati Diavel has been officially revealed. Well, the tail end of it at least.
This new photo provides an early look at the back end of the Ducati power cruiser, while simultaneously confirming the Diavel name.
The Italian motorcycle will be slowly and steadily teased as we approach the 2011 EICMA motorcycle expo in Milan. Yes, another drip-feed campaign a la the Triumph Tiger 800.
There has been much talk about the name Diavel, which has polarized both the Ducatista and casual admirers alike. The word apparently means devil in a little-used Bolognese dialect, and time will tell how the public takes to it.
Apart from this sole photo - which shows twin vertical LED brake lights with integrated turn indicators, flat bars, a carbon fibre tank and what appears to be a massive 200 section rear tyre - Ducati has revealed that the Diavel will weigh 207kg, which is not particularly heavy for a power cruiser. The Yamaha VMAX, for instance, weighs more than 300kg.
Other confirmed features include Ducati Traction Control, sport ABS and different engine power modes to suit varying conditions.
What we don't know yet are the powertrain specifics, though it has been confirmed that the Multistrada's 1198cc 90-degree V-twin will be propelling the 2011 Ducati Diavel. However power and torque outputs are likely to differ from the Multistrada's 150hp at 9250rpm and 119Nm at 7500rpm, with a possible drop in power and rise in torque.
Enjoy the 2011 Ducati Diavel's rump for now and we'll keep you abreast of all the upcoming news as we approach the motorcycle's EICMA unveiling in Milan.
