The only additional feature on the K 1600 GTL will be a LED fog light. Colours for the K 1600 GT are Vermillion Red metallic and Light Grey Metallic, and for the K 1600 GTL Mineral Silver metallic and Royal Blue Metallic.
Both bikes will be powered by a six-cylinder engine developed and produced in-house by BMW Motorrad, producing 160hp (118kW) and maximum torque of 175Nm. Over 70 per cent of the maximum torque is available from 1500rpm, and BMW claims the bikes can travel from 0-100km/h in 3.2 seconds (without panniers).
BMW’s opposition in the luxury touring class includes the Honda Goldwing (from $37,990) and Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic Electra Glide ($47,000).
And a reminder about the K 1600 GT road show which is currently winding its way around Australia, giving enthusiasts a sneak preview of the bike before it goes on sale in late May this year.
