Australian Aprilia importer and distributor, John Sample Automotive, has announced further details of its Tuono V4 R ARPC streetfighter, including pricing, availability and full colour options.
The hotly-anticipated naked bike will retail for $21,990 (plus on-road costs) and will hit Aussie showrooms in August.
Naked bikes spell big business in many bike markets around the world, and the new Tuono V4 R ARPC - which will build upon an enviable reputation laid down by its predecessor, the V-twin-engined Tuono - is expected to have a big impact. The model initially set tongues wagging at the Tuono's November 2010 debut at EICMA in Milan.
While John Sample Automotive had already released photos of the bike in black and silver, it has now confirmed the model will also be available in an eye-catching yellow livery.
Arguably the world's most sophisticated naked bike to date, the 2011 Aprilia Tuono V4 R ARPC takes advantage of the numerous traction control features first seen on the Aprilia RSV4 Factory APRC SE, though you wouldn't think so looking at Aprilia's promotional video of the model - see below for the power-sliding action.
Power is derived from the Aprilia RSV4R's 1000cc V4 engine, though the superbike's 182hp (134kW) has been detuned to a more appropriate 162hp (119kW) at 11,000rpm for the Tuono V4 R ARPC, and while peak torque has been reduced slightly, the 110Nm arrives much earlier at 9000rpm.
Boasting a fully adjustable suspension package, chunky radial brake calipers with 320mm front floating discs and 220mm rear discs, the package weighs in at a super-light wet weight of just 179kg (compared to 219kg for the Triumph Speed Triple). Other rivals for the new Aprilia Tuono V4 R ARPC will include the MV Agusta Brutale, Kawasaki Z1000 and Ducati Streetfighter.
