2010 Kawasaki Versys

Photos of the updated Versys middeweight all-rounder are very promising

The 2010 Kawasaki Versys middleweight all-rounder shows off a new look and implements a range of ergonomic upgrades.

While the 649cc parallel twin-cylinder engine remains unchanged from its predecessor, pumping out a decent 62hp, the middleweight Kawasaki gets a larger windscreen for better wind protection, with three positions of adjustability.

Kawasaki also claims to have improved NVH levels on the 2010 Versys, with rubber-covered footpegs and rubber bushings on the rear engine mounts. This leads to "reduced engine vibration and a more comfortable ride" says Kawasaki, addressing customer feedback of vibrational issues on the bike.

Pillion passengers also get some love, with new passenger grab rails, updated seat cover material and changes to the seating position, all of which help "make the Versys even more fun for passengers," says the Japanese company.

As the photos show, there have been several changes to the design. A new front fairing front mud guard, headlight cluster and mirrors, plus an updated LED brake light are the major updates, while smaller touches such as a new muffler, clutch cover, radiator shrouds and swingarm pivot covers "all contribute to the Versys' bold new high-quality look."

As mentioned in our previous look at the new Versys, the front end design is a vast improvement on the outgoing model, and together with a redesigned radiator cowl the bike has a more determined overall appearance.

Like any self-respecting all-rounder, the 2010 Kawasaki Versys can be optioned with a range of convenience accessories such as matching panniers, a 12 volt outlet, heated hand grips and even handguards.

Stay tuned for more details and launch dates of the new 2010 Versys.
