2010 Cologne Motorcycle Show: Highlights

We take a look at the best bikes from one of the year's premier motorcycle shows, INTERMOT Cologne 2010

Most international visitors in Germany during October are there for one thing - Oktoberfest - but there's been a lot more going on than just celebrating beer, such as a rather large motorcycle expo in a fine-smelling city called Cologne.

The 2010 INTERMOT Cologne motorcycle show was a veritable cornucopia of new models, with a number of big ticket reveals taking place and several stars in attendance. Max Biaggi, tow a bow.

Scroll to the bottom of the page for all the links to fresh new machinery that was on show, but as a brief precis Triumph unleashed its 2011 Speed Triple, premiering a new design that looks set influence the upcoming generation of motorcycles, while Kawasaki shocked the motorcycle world with what is now the lightest and most powerful litre class sports bike. And it's a bit sexy.

That wasn't the only sportsbike to thrill the masses, as Suzuki's updated 2011 GSX-R600 and GSX-R750 made their collective debut, showing off aggressive new designs and shedding a few kilograms after going on what we can only assume were low carb diets.

The BMW K 1600 GT and K 1600 GTL six-cylinder uber cruisers promise car-like luxuries on two wheels, and there were also a number of electric motorcycles on show, not to mention a new race-ready version of KTM's big V-twin sports bike, the RC8 R.

As well as the glitz and glamour, there were a few unexpected reveals, such as Yamaha's World Crosser concept, which hints at a new special edition Tenere, and who could forget Ducati's 1098 SP, which is likely to cause lots of drooling among the Ducatista.

We've got all the stories listed here in one convenient location, so take a look and check back often as we'll be updating it whenever we add new stories.
