BMW Motorrad Australia has taken the wraps off its 2010 model G 450 X ahead of its market launch in January.
And it is bundling $3000 worth of extras in a bid to run out current 2009 models until November 30th, but more on that later.
The new 2010 model enduro comes in for a number of changes, least of which is the modified power unit. The 450cc engine has been given a new ECU map that is claimed to improve fuel consumption from 4.5L/100km to 4.3L/100km.
Though the efficiency gains in fuel consumption are a welcome addition, the tuning has also brought about reduced engine brake torque. No talk of a power hike though...
Chassis modifications for the 2010 model BMW G 450 X include changes to the linkage-free rear shock, and a 2.5mm reduced offset for the front axle to the middle of the fork rod, which should deliver "more neutral handling with optimum directional stability".
BMW Motorrad has also added new upside-down gold-anodised forks with rejigged internal settings that deliver "stronger damping progression" to improve control and tracking across rough terrain.
The 2010 model G 450 X also benefits from a new design, including a new seat "filled with soft foam". Better than being filled with broken glass, eh? The shape of the seat has been changed slightly as well, with an enlarged radius in the upper thigh area.
BMW's G 450 X has competitive successes to bolster its showroom appeal, with an outstanding debut season in the AORC taking out the National Championship title in the Expert Class.
2009 BMW G 450 X Offer
In order to clear the decks of the current 2009 model G 450 X, BMW will give Australian buyers a $3000 equipment incentive for free. This offer is valid until November 30 2009, and adds five official new bits from the BMW Motorrad accessories bin: One Industries decal kit, a bash plate/engine guard, Acerbis hand guards, a BMW neck brace function and an Akrapovic Titanium Race Muffler.
